Welcome to my website! My name is Koba. I am a data scientist and an analytics expert with several years of experience in academia, sports, and marketing technology industries. I am a problem solver at heart and love creating value through data driven solutions complemented with colorful visuals and a captivating story.
Outside of work, I volunteer as a member of Global Shapers trying to create a positive impact in the Philadelphia community. In addition, web development has been one of my hobbies and from time to time I help people build websites.
I use this website to practice my web dev skills, write about data science, machine learning and everything else that may come to mind.

DescriptioncloseThe purpose of this research paper was to either confirm or reject the hypothesis that the increase in minumum wage affected employment in the food industry in PA. I used OLS regression and the R framework. The data was obtained from the US Burea of Labor statistics. Increase in the minimum wage did decrease employment by 1.33% which was equivalent to six thousand people. The result was statistically reasonable.

DescriptioncloseThe problem is to classify images of handwritten digits. Neural networks are great for image classification. I set up a convolutional neural network in python that achieved 98.6% accuracy on the test data.

DescriptioncloseSame digit recognizer problem approached from within the R framework. I set up a neural network in R that achieved ~97.8% accuracy on the test data. This write up was tweeted by Kaggle as a tutorial about neural networks and R.

DescriptioncloseMacroeconomic history of Mexico between 1950 and 2010. In this paper I follow the economy of Mexico and its up and downs. I used Excel and data obtained from the world development indicators as well as other sources.

Descriptioncloseeикrуpт, inspired by cryptii, is a web page where you can encrypt/decrypt messages using algorythms such as AES, DES, etc. Everything is done in your browser using javascript, cryptojs, tea.js and steganographyjs. Nothing is send to the server (there is no back-end). This tool got viral on reddit.
